Generation Gap

Generation gap is conflict between generations about values, ideals, aims, habits, styles.

This conflict has always existed in history of human relations and we can find a lot of proving for it in literature and history. So, the conflict can be called internal.
There were moments in history when values changed, due to political and economic development and it led to arguments between younger people and older generation who were accustomed to other conditions and believed in other ideas.
But in older times this conflict was not so serious. Life did not change rapidly and there were long periods of time where generation had the same life style as the previous generation. From early age people began to be involved in activities that their parents and grandparents were doing and they learnt everything from experience of the older. At the same way they learnt the norms of society and accepted its values.

In the 20 th century things began to change. Wide spread of education, rapid technological progress, changes in politics started to make generations further and further from each other.
Experiences of older stopped to be the only sources of information and learning for younger ones.

In the modern world the generation gap is very wide and we think that it is going to be even wider in the future. Older generation complains much about different values, culture, fashion, habits, attitudes and preferences. Younger generation it its turn denies all values of the past.

We think each generation should make step to each other. Maybe, it is easier for younger to make the first step, because they are more flexible by nature. Conflict is not way to solve this problem. The older should try to understand and accept that our modern life does not stand on one place. Also, they should remember themselves when they were young and had the same conflicts and problems.
But the younger must show more respect to the older and try to listen. The older have more experience and what they say is right in many cases, their concerns and worries are not based on empty place.

We all should build the bridge to lessen the generation gap.
