Why should we say NO to addictions and how to do it?
In our articles we talked a lot about bad influence of smoking, drinking and drugs on our health, school progress, social life and even future.
So, it is clear why we should keep away from addictions. But it is not always easy to do it.
One of the most important reasons of trying a bad habit is friends pressure.
First of all you should respect yourself and YOUR opinion should be priority, you should be interested more in your own opinion than opinion of others about you.
Do not be afraid to resist the pressure. Explain and justify your opinion.
Friends will start to respect you more for this. If not, then you have chosen wrong friends and should think about better choice.
If you have problems, it is better to talk to important adults, parents, teachers. If it does not work, you should consult psychologist for help.
Your life is what you do from it. If you have not good perspectives in life, try to make them yourself. Drugs and alcohol are not your helpers in this task but will reduce your chances in life to zero.
Addictions is not a way to express your individuality and make people pay attention on you, there are many other ways to do it. If you are not good in study, you can express yourself through sport or hobby, or good personal qualities. Be sure in yourself, you are unique the way you are, you do not have to prove something to somebody by agreeing to try cigarette, wine, drug.
If you are a sportsman, bad habits will prevent you from showing good results.
If you want to seem grown, your refusal will only prove it, because it is your mature choice.
Nothing to do is reason for many bad habits. You should fill your life with study, interesting activities and hobbies, then you will not have time to even think about bad habits.
To be successful in life you need good health. It will help you with to successfully graduate from educational institution and find a good job. More and more organizations now refuse to take smokers to work, because they interrupt for break and get ill more often than non smokers.
If you drink or take drugs, you do not have chances to good job at all.
You can ask why your relatives or other adults have bad habits and do not give up if they are so bad. Simple answer is that they would like to do it but can not stop, they are dependant.
The best way not to be dependant is never to start!
